Tori Sparks (Nashville TN)

(Rock/Folk/Ghettotech)

“Here’s a singer/songwriter with the strong, eloquent vocals of Bonnie Raitt and the guitar mastery of Joni Mitchell. Her second indie release Under this Yellow Sun is a bounty of subtle rock and haunting blues…
      --Nancy Dunham, Relix

“Tori Sparks’ voice isn’t one of those passive instruments that treats a lyric like it’s a classified ad… Here is a supple, teasing voice that flutters and flies seemingly without effort from note to note, line to line, so that weepy sensitivity and pleading vulnerability cozy up with tough resilience and firm resolve so seamlessly you never even notice the mood swing.”
      --Jeff Tamarkin, Harp Magazine

“Sparks needs little in the way of effects or layering to get her music across… strong and fabulous…”
      --Jason MacNeil, PopMatters

“Under This Yellow Sun is a sensuous blend of folk, blues and rock. … Sparks proves herself a soulful songwriter and vocalist who at once manages both strength and vulnerability. An assured, auspicious disc that should bring [Sparks] deserved national attention.” [4 stars]
      --Amanda Schurr; Creative Loafing

The Dirty Damn Band  (Drum & Bass/ Indie Pop from Toledo OHIO)

"The Dirty Damn Band is damn funny. The girl duo's brash, gender smashing pop - composed of just bass and drums - is witty, original and ballsy. Songs like "I Live at Home with My Mom," Spaghetti Sex," their Saved By The Bell shout out to "Jesse Spano" and, of course, their personal ballad, "DDB Anthem," testify their funny, crass humor and muted ability to make pop music out of jokes. I imagine that The Breeders' Deal sisters have a pile of b-sides lying around that sound just like this." --Ryan Bunch, Toledo City Paper

After being forced to endure one shitty musical trend after another during the last 10 years--nu metal, rapcore, screamo, and whatever the fuck "emo" is-- discovering The Dirty Damn Band feels like stumbling upon the Fountain of Youth in the middle of Death Valley. THIS is what music is supposed to do--entertain, enlighten and make you feel fucking ALIVE! Together, these two young women craft simple yet unbelievably catchy tunes about pubic hair, your mother's pubic hair, panties, Jesse Spano, "Showgirls" and other impolite dinner conversation topics. The Dirty Damn Band are the most fun you can have with your undies on. --Jason Webber, Editor Toledo City Paper

"The Dirty Damn Band straight-up makes my shit want to dance. And they're a three-year favorite in the
Northwest Ohio music scene (where I reside) for good reason: their shows are a blast. Also, they're about the only band that I can legitimately say is less mature. than me. From Dance or Die!!

The Lollipop Factory (Columbus, Ohio)

www.myspace.com/lollipopfactory

We come from Black Sabbath and musical theater.  We come from David Bowie, barbershop quartets, Freddie Mercury, and The Dresden Dolls.  We come from vocal jazz, Judas Priest, Jellyfish, Elvis, and Mike Patton. From Hedwig, the Ray Coniff singers, Danny Elfman, madrigals, and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum.

We are Lollipop Factory, and we're all about the live performance -- strung across the front of the stage, two guitarists and a stand-up drummer, all vocalists.  We are 3-part vocal harmonies, hollow body guitars through Marshall half stacks,  heavy bass riffs through octave pedals, and slamming complex polyrhythms on a stripped-down sparkly drum kit. We're high-heeled boots, glittery skirts, and top hats.  We live to put on a performance, to show people something they've never seen before and can't wait to see again.

The Matt Truman Ego Trip...really! Because everyone used to be in different or the same bands...Because they used to have two guitar players and then just one (and he hardly ever plays) so they got another one...Because the world is round it turns me on...Because they believe that you really dressed up and now they wanna have a look atcha...because they are analogue attempting digital and very clumsy...because they play american rock based on british rock based on american rock which was really just the blues...because they just wanna dance...NOW ROCK!

Hazard Perry

www.myspace.com/hazardperry

Combining the hard-hitting riffs and funk swagger drawn from influences such as Clutch and Wolfmother with Aaron St. Claire's grunge-era vocals, Hazard Perry is looking to stomp their way through every bar in the Midwest. Each of the four musicians that make up Hazard Perry bring their unique visions and talents to every song, leading to a sound that melds the best from the 60's 70's and 90's. Jesse Ras, after years of listening to pop-punk metal, has emerged as an amazing lead guitarist, capable of ear-shattering riffs and blistering solos. On bass, Connor Brown blends funk, soul and grunge seamlessly while steadily holding down the low end. Completing the rhythm section is Jim Brown, a hard-hitting drummer who uses jazz and hip-hop beats to provide a pulse to the massive riffs. Combine all of that with the unique contrast of Aaron St. Claire's soaring melodies and you have an idea of Hazard Perry. See them live. Watch them drink. You are guranteed to have a good time.

Secret Swords (Hailing from members of Stylex and Shuttlecock)

Eat Sugar

(Electro/NewWave/ Soul)

www.myspace.com/eatsugarmusic

When it comes to talent and creativity, Eat Sugar already has a prosthetic bionic leg up on most other upstarts. Singer Bogosian is the band's secret weapon. His vocals can be spastic and frizzy, as the herky-jerky music sometimes calls for, but there's an inherent soulfulness making it much more effective than the overly theatrical yelps of some of his peers. Poneris provides metronomic precision with an overheated energy threatening to short-circuit everything at any moment. Reynolds handles the propulsive synth assault guiding the jittery burble with a mix of gracefulness and aggression.

The end results of this ideal collaboration stand up to the best Electro Post Punk made today (in fact, they’re often as good as anything created in New Wave’s heyday). Though clearly informed by some modern influences, Eat Sugar's music easily passes as a treasured relic from 1979, thanks to their love of more antiquated synth sounds and dedication to never letting the machines override the human element and energy.

The Sanderlings (Toledo Rock/Indie/Blues)

We're four ordinary gents trying to make extraordinary tunes. We're also well-versed in the songs of our forefathers, as everyone loves a good cover. We usually gig in and around Northwest Ohio, but have been known to perform in Akron, Kent, Louisville, Lexington, Detroit, and Ann Arbor. Available for weddings, bar mitzvahs, benefit shows, rodeos, and bullfights. When not playing, we can be found: packing and shipping light bulbs, controlling the quality of world-renowned manufacturing machinery, selling gasoline at great prices, and teaching Spanish to the leaders of tomorrow. Listen to our music! If you like it (and want to hear us live or get your very own copy) write to us at sanderlingsband@yahoo.com. We also appreciate mix tapes, hand-written love notes, and SE Asian cooking. We have opened for the likes of the Gin Blossoms, the Heartless Bastards, The Hard Lessons, the Dirt Bombs, Cut In the Hill Gang (featuring Johnny Walker), The Loft, Dooley Wilson, Koufax and Ekoostic Hookah as well as having played alongside some of the area’s best rising talent at venues such as The Blind Pig (Ann Arbor), Headliners (Toledo), Mickey Finns (Toledo), Frankies Inner City (Toledo), Howard’s Club H (Bowling Green), Phoenix Hill Tavern (Louisville, Ky) and Lexington’s Kentucky Theater (Lexington, Ky). Our first single “I Heart Monogamy” has also been featured on several commercial radio stations including Toledo’s The Zone 106.5 and Detroit/Windsor’s New Rock Alternative 89X.
